Here are some simple yet useful tips designed to aid your Truespace modeling efforts:
|
As a suggested windows setup for effective modeling,
change the main view to TOP, and add 2 more smaller views (position them to the
side of workspace) representing SIDE, and PERSPECTIVE viewpoints respectively.
If your system is up to it, setting the PERSPECTIVE view to 3DR enhanced will
increase the level of instant feedback you'll get when working with such things
as Boolean operations

As a useful technique for creating complex models
- instead of trying to deform a single basic primitive into the exact shape you
want, edit multiple primitives and join them together to form the shape your looking
for using the glue tool. By gluing objects together you can easily move down the
hierarchy an edit or replace individual elements, which can later be Boolean welded
to each other when you're sure you have exactly what you want. Creating structured
hierarchies also makes character animation a lot easier.

A simple tip: Don't start out
by using primitives with very high polygon counts! By starting with a relatively
simple primitive you can always quad-divide or triangulate it later if needed.
On the other hand, an over-detailed object cannot be simplified using TrueSpace's
tools.
