COFFEE CUP HTML EDITOR++ REVIEW

PUBLISHER: Coffee Cup Software DESCRIPTION: HTML Editor
REVIEWED: Version 4.1 RATING: 7/10

An editor very similar to Homesite in many ways, CoffeeCup offers many 'power' features such as built in JavaScript and ActiveX functions.

MAIN FEATURES AND BENEFITS

A built in directory browser (as a part of the main interface) featuring drag and drop functionality, and even a built in image preview area!

Built in 'ready to insert' Javascripts, ActiveX controls and HotStuff scripts. A small library of animated GIFs is even included

Main interface buttons for instant access to Character map, telnet and IP configuration details

Built in FTP utility - always accessible with a single click

DISADVANTAGES AND DRAWBACKS

The main interface is virtually uncustomisable, without the ability to add your own custom buttons, tags, font or colour preferences, etc.

No spell checker (may be incorporated into a later version)

No HTML tag colour coding (useful for locating errors in complex HTML files)

REVIEW SUMMARY

Offering a high degree of functionality, power, and a well designed interface, CoffeCup is a solid, reliable and reasonably quick editor. On the other hand, lacking a spellchecker, offering little scope for customisation, and few (if any) site management tools, this may program may be a good choice for home users with small amounts of web content to create and maintain, rather than professionals in the industry.
